Useful examination of the different platforms. I share your Ruby bias and ended up moving to Wordpress for the same reasons. Wish I had found your article earlier. Cheers.

Wow, I didn't know ffmpeg could do that. I think you just solved my DVD backup problem, though I wonder if I could tickle Handbrake into doing the same thing - thanks!

TextMate frustrates me to no end so thanks for hosting your code on github so I can move over easily to MacVim. Made it really easy to get setup.

One thing I can't figure out though... how can I get the fuzzy_finder ignore string to ignore certain directories? I've tried:

FOO
**/FOO/*
*/FOO/*

nothing seems to work for me?

Advertising is a subset of marketing, although it is the largest chunk, by far. Advertising isn't going away, by any means. What I'd like to see is a sort of dual model, wherein we can pay reasonable fees for ad-free content, or opt to go with the ads. If Hulu offered 1080p streaming and a fee-based no-ad service, perhaps with some premium programming options (I need HBO and Showtime), I'd drop my cable in a heartbeat.

Well Said, sir - I agree with a lot of what you say here. I'm wondering, though, would it be so bad if other forms of advertising and marketing died off to make room for these 'new mediums'? Personally I think television/radio advertising needs to die if we're being hit with new sources of propaganda... I mean, collateral..

Beautifully put. In the end it all comes down to accountability. Accountability for the person and for the moment.

Thanks for your nice summary. I think I'll be going to vim from textmate trial. I like the cocoa gui, but vim commands are pretty good and can be useful on machines other than my own mac.
Not sure if I'll bother with the TextMate addon for fuzzy.
